Hitchhiking to the Grand Canyon!

(Hechando dedo en el desierto de Mojave!)

Hitchhiking: Monday morning I departed from L.A in an old van with 2 girls and one guy in it. They were going to Las Vegas but they drop me out in Barstow (a small city in the I-40) because the way to get to the Grand Canyon is taking the I-40. In Barstow I tried my luck hitchhiking close to the town… Lucky for me, an old men picked me up and took me to Newberry spring. After that I kept thumbing for like 3 hours and nothing, also, I was in the middle of the Mojave Desert between Nevada and Arizona. However, someone did. The guy who gave me a ride was kind of cool, plus he yelled in a gas station “who is going to take this little boy to the Grand Canyon!” and well, a girl did! She is one of the most good vibe people I ever met in rides.

Drivers Profiles:

Van people: Party style, very friendly, asking too much (The asked me for money), not a good sense of humor (My jokes are really good!)

Old man: Extremely religious, when I say extremely is one of those people who give bibles (He gave a new testament “for the rode”)… I'm thankful though, I will do lots of fires with it.

The guy: Loves beer and smoking, great dad (he spoke about his children a lot). Friendly and no shame (He yelled in a gas station super loud!)

Good vibe girl: Activist, hippies, hitchhiker (She hitchhiked for 3 and a half years across US and Canada! … What a hero!) … Good conversations and comfy car. She also gave me beer. (I don't know what to choose, the beer or the New Testament)

Finally, the girl dropped me off at the grand canyon intersection (About 50 miles to the park) I didn’t hitchhiked because it was pretty late (11 pm) so I pitched my tent close to the rode. Next day I woke up early, to hitchhike again. It wasn't easy but in to legs I made it! I'm in the Grand Canyon baby!

Drivers Profiles:

The truck dude: A friendly guy from the area, he looked like a farmer… For the first time, I listened the southern accent (I'm not in the south though)

Religious #2: The guy was really easy going and friendly, but I don't know what is going on with me but I've been surrounded by super religious people in the rides… Jehovah's witness C'mon!

Echando dedo: El Lunes en la mañana salí de los Los Ángeles en una Van vieja con 2 mujeres y un hombre. Ellos estaban yendo hacia Las Vegas pero me dejaron en Barstow (Un pequeño pueblo en la I-40) porque el modo de llegar al Gran Cañón es por la I-40. En Barstow intenté echar dedo cerca del pueblo... Y por suerte un viejo me recogió y me dejo en Newberry Springs. Después de eso seguí echando dedo por casi 3 horas y nada, además, estaba en la mitad del desierto de Mojave, en la mitad de Nevada y Arizona. Sin embargo alguien lo hizo. El que medio el aventon era un bacan, a parte, el gritó en una estación de gasolina "Quien va a llevar a este niño al Gran Cañón!" y bueno, una chica lo hizo. Ella es una de las personas mas buena onda que he conocido en Rides.

Perfiles de Conductores:

La Vieja Van: Les gusta la fiesta, queridos, pero pidiendo mucho (me pidieron dinero) y sin buen sentido del humor (Mis chistes son muy buenos).

El viejo: Extremadamente Religioso, cuando digo extremadamente, es de esas personas que dan biblias (El me dio un Nuevo Testamento "para el camino")... Sin embargo estoy agradecido, haré muchas fogatas con el.

El man: Ama la cerveza y el cigarrillo, un buen papa (me hablo mucho de sus hijos). Amigable y sin pena (El grito en la gasolinera muy duro!

La chica buena onda: Activista, hippie, y hitchhiker (Alguien que hecha dedo) (Ella echó dedo por 3 años y medio alrededor de Canadá y USA... Que héroe!)... Buenas conversaciones y un carro muy cómodo. Además, ella me dio cerveza (no se con que quedarme, con la cerveza o el Nuevo Testamento)

Finalmente, la chica me dejo en la intersección del Gran Cañón (como a 80 km del parque). No eche dedo porque ya estaba muy tarde (11 pm), entonces puse mi carpa cerca a la carretera. El próximo día me desperté temprano y hitchhike otra vez. No fue fácil, pero en dos tiros lo hice! Estoy en el Gran Cañón baby!

Perfiles de Conductores:

El man del Camión: Un man muy bacano del área, parecía un granjero... Por primera vez, escuche el acento sureño (Sin embargo no estoy en el Sur)

Religioso #2: El man era buena gente y amigable, pero no se que es lo que esta pasando conmigo, pero he estado rodeado de gente super religiosa en los Rides... Testigo de Jehová, Por Favor!

(Muy caliente y un ambiente muy seco ... Habia mucho viento y nada de sombra)

I will put something else in the blog in a few days if I find internet... I not, well, I will be in the Grand Canyon having fun, hiking and camping. I leaving a photo just to show how amazing and massive it is!

Voy a pner algo en el blog en unos dias si encuentro internet... Si no, pues, estaré en el Gran Cañón diviertiendome, caminando y acampando. Dejo una foto solo par mostrar lo grande y maravilloso que es!
