NYC Parks... Central Park!

(This isn't one of my pictures (It is the first one I upload that it isn't mine) but I wanted to show how big is this city and how big is Central Park... It was taken from the Rockefeller, to get there you have to pay 30 dollars. Money I don't have right now)

NYC has a few parks and square parks, it has some green spots and some playgrounds and baseball fields and almost a 83% of them are located in Central Park... 2 days ago, I took the subway towards Central Park at 3 O'clock in the afternoon and I got there at 4:30. Why?  well, the Subway was stock in the middle of the tunnel for almost half an hour, so me, and the other bunch of people had to cross the train to the end and pass through another train... Anyways, back to Central Park. Opened in 1857 and finally completely design in 1858 by Frederick Law and another guy that I don't remember (The same guy's that built Prospect Park in Brooklyn) made a brilliant job!, Central Park is awesome! I've spent a couple of afternoons there and both of the were really fun. First, you can actually disconnect with the city noises and crowds and find a relaxing environment. Second, there is a lot to do, basketball games, Tennis courts, kayaking, Jogging and running, concerts and more! And finally, it brings to the city some aesthetic and some glamour, besides of concrete it also has a big green spot!

#1 It cost 38 Millions of Dollars  every year to manage the park.

#2 Around 35 millions of visitors a Year.

#3 Most visited Park in America.

#4 The Value of that land is... Wait for it... (and I hope you don't have Numerophobia)... $528,783,552,000 Dollars! 

#5 Back in the 80's there were 1000 crimes per year. Nowadays, 100 per year.

NYC tiene unos cuantos parques y plazas, tiene unos cuantos puntos verdes, juegos para niños y canchas de baseball y casi el 83% de ellos estan ubicados en Central Park.. Hace 2 dias, cogí el Subway en direccion a Central Park a las 3 de la tarde y llegue allá a las 4:30. Porque? pues, el tren se quedo atrancado en la mitad del túnel por casi media hora, entonces yo, y las otras personas tuvimos que cruzar todos los vagones esta el final y pasar a otro tren... De todos modos, de vuelta a Central Park. Abierto en 1857 y finalmente diseñado completamente en 1858 por Frederick Law y otro hombre que no me acuerdo (Ellos mismos diseñaron Prospect Park en Brooklyn) hicieron un trabajo brillante!, Central Park es maravilloso! He pasado unas cuantas tardes allá y fueron muy divertidas. Primero, uno puede realmente desconectarse de los ruidos de la ciudad y las multitudes y encontrar un ambiente relajante. Segundo, hay mucho para hace, Basketball, canchas de Tenis, Kayak, trotar, conciertos y mucho mas! y Finalmente, le da a la ciudad un poco de estética y glamour, a parte de concreto también tiene un gran punto de verde!

About one week ago, in sad Thursday afternoon (Those times when I was kind of sad) Amelia, Tomasz and I went to The American Natural History Museum in Central Park. We had a great time... The Museum has a lot of thing to keep interested in. A difference from Art Museums, this place is more like "Oohh" feeling. Huge things, amazing stuff, Animals, Science, Rocks and minerals and quite of great Dinosaurs... Also, the architecture of the museum is neat. Every Museum in New York and places of interest is located in an important architectural space. Something that makes everything twice of compelling... In the Museum I found one of the biggest minerals and rocks exposition I've ever seen in my life. It was really good to see what are the things I'm about to study in a few months... Around here in the house everything is going well, I'm still sleeping on the floor because there is no enough space. (The floor is kind of comfy though). My mood is quite good, I've been doing things everyday, and that's makes me happy... Finally, I found out (doing some research in the museum) that I've touch almost every type of forest in the US. Almost all of them really similar but with some unique things. For example, the squirrels from California, the ones from The Grand Canyon, the Rockies and from Central Park are way different. Although, the look the same, a cute rodent.

 Mas o menos hace una semana, en una triste tarde de Jueves (De esos tiempos en los que estaba un poco triste) Amelia, Tomasz y yo fuimos al Museo Americano de Historia Natural en Central Park. La pasamos muy bien... El Museo tiene muchas cosas para mantenerlo a uno interesado. A diferencia de otros museos , este lugar es mas como de experiencias "OoHh". Grandes cosas, increíbles artefactos, Animales, ciencia, rocas y minerales y unos cuantos grandes dinosaurios... Además, la arquitectura del Museo es genial. Cada museo y sitio de interés en New York esta ubicado en un sitio importante arquitectónicamente. Algo que hace 2 veces mas interesante el lugar... En el Museo encontré una de las mas grandes exposiciones de rocas y minerales que he visto en mi vida. Fue bacano ver las cosas que estoy a punto de estudiar en unos  meses... Por aquí en la casa todo va bien, Estoy durmiendo en el piso porque no hay suficiente espacio. (El piso es bastante cómodo). Mi animo esta mucho mejor, he estado haciendo cosas todos los días y eso me pone feliz... Finalmente, me di cuenta (haciendo investigacion en el museo) que he tocado cada tipo de Bosque en la USA. Todos ellos muy similares, pero con algunas cosas unicas. Poe ejemplo, la Ardillas de California, El gran Cañon, Las rocosas y las de Central Park son muy diferentes. Sin embargo todas lucen parecido, lindos roedores.

Just after writing what I wrote in the past past entree, I got to the conclusion that I really have to wake up and get out of the bed and do something! That’s why I’ve made a plan for this 8 days I have left in NYC. Each day would be like a last one!

Justo despues de escribir lo que escribí en la entrada ante pasada, llegue a la conclusion que realmente tengo que despertar, levarntarme de la cama y hacer cosas! Por eso es que he diseñado un plan para los ultimos 8 dias que tengo en NYC. Cada uno sera como el último.

For instance, yesterday, I went to the Apple store to buy an Ipod classic for the music of the Hostal, I’ve recollected about 800 GB (That’s a lot) of Music in this trip. Then, I went to Time Square, this time, during the night! During the day is just lights with the light of the sun. At night is Lights and more lights mixed with the black sky and some skyscrapers. The crowd is unbelievable! Even the subway to get there is crowd, however, including those crows the place is unbelievable, everyone is happy and exited about what is going on, the stores around are open 24/7 and you can find things like the M&M store or Hershey’s factory (I’m not so interested in those but it nice to know they are there). Coca-Cola, Samsung, Hollywood, Universal, NBC, and all those important and big firms are there. They have their own screen to say “Here we are, World”.

Por Ejemplo, ayer, Fuí al Apple store para comprar un Ipod Classic para la Musica del Hostal. He recolectado acerca de 800 GB (Eso es mucho!) de Musica en este viaje. Luego, Fui a Time Square, esta vez, durante la noche! Durante el dia son solo luces con la luz del sol. En la noche son luces y muchas as luces convinadas con el cielo escuro y edificios. La gente es mucha! Incluso el subway para llegar alla es lleno de gente. Sin embargo, incluyendo las multitudes, el sitio es impresionante, todo el mundo esta feliz y exitado acerca de lo que esta pasando, las tiendas al rededor son 24 horas y uno puede encontrar cosas como la tienda de M&M o la fabrica de Hershey's (No estoy muy interesado en esas cosas pero es bueno saber que estan allí). Coca-Cola, Samsug, Hollywood, Universal, NBC, y todas esas firmas grandes e importantes estan allá. Ellas tienen su propia pantalla para decir “Aqui estamos Mundo”.

Colombian Independence at Jackson Heights.

(Mi patria!)

The 20th of July is the celebration of the Independence of Colombia. I wanted to celebrated like a Colombian so I went to Jackson Heights where Colombians and other Latino groups are living the"American Dream". There was a big parade but I did't make it, I got there 30 minutes later. However, I had an Arepa (it is like a think tortilla made of corn) with Chicharron (fried pork rinds) with Fresh Cheese (fresh cheese) accompanied with a "Colombiana" (a classic soda beverage from, obviously, Colombia). Everything was delecious! Also, it was nice to look at the other face of New York City, Queens... Everyone and everything had a flag, t-shirt or other kind of outfit with the Colombian flag, that was great! Googleing the neighborhood, I found out that Jackson heights is one of the most dense Colombian populations out side of Colombia. Saying that, I was basically in Colombian Abroad. :)


El 20 de Julio es la celebración de la independencia de Colombia. Yo la quería celebrar al estilo Colombiano, entonces fui a Jackson Heights donde los Colombianos y otros grupos de latinos viven el "Sueño Americano". Había un gran desfile pero no pude llegar, fui 30 minutos tarde. Sin embargo, me comí una Arepa (Si usted habla español seguramente sabe que es) con Chicharrón (De nuevo, si usted habla español debe saber que es con Queso (Obviamente, Queso) acompañada con una "Colombiana" (De nuevo, usted debe saber que es). Todo estaba delicioso! Ademas, fua interesante ver la otra cara de Nueva York, Queens... Todo el mundo y todas las cosas tenian una bandera, camiseta o otro tipo de accesorio con la bandera de Colombia, eso estuvo bacano! Googleando el vecindario, encontré que Jackson Heights es una de las mas densas áreas con Colombianos afuera de Colombia. Diciendo eso, estuve en Colombia exterior. :)

7 Months and some Pics!

I know I've been a little bit late to  write the blog.  One of my friends just told me  "What's  going on? ...  Well,  Here it is.

Yo  se que he estado tardando un poco  escribiendo mi blog.  Una de mis amigas me dijo "Que esta pasando?" ...  Pues, Aqui esta.

It is now exactly  7 months of Travels. It is 7 months away from home, from family  and friends.  It is 7 month of eating Ramen soups, Burgers and Sandwiches. It is 7 months of camping and couches.  It  is 7 months of introducing myself to other people.  There are new things everyday, There are new feelings and emotions...  I might sound like  I'm not having fun saying that, Am I? Well, it is not that.  It is just that I'm feeling the heavy stuff of all  of those  things in past few days. I'm feeling tired.    I want to sleep  longer,  I want to do "normal"... Talking with some travelers  (Polish Couple  and some more),  I got the conclusion that life is like that. There is Summits and Canyons.  I guess right now I'm in a really  deep Canyon  and I need to climb up as fast as possible because I only have 10 days left in NYC and because  I one to  be  100% good  mood in Seattle   because of  "someone"... Everything is gonna be alright  (hopefully).

The Photos are a little bit dark but the thing is that all of them where taken late in the afternoon from the same place and I don't have any editing program anymore. So, how where they taken is how they are here.

Son exactamente 7 meses  de Viaje.  Son 7 meses lejos  de casa, familia y amigos. Son 7 meses de comer  Sopa de fideos,  hamburguesas y sandwiches. Son 7 meses  de campamentos  y Sofás.  Son 7 meses de  introducirme a mi  mismo . Hay nuevas cosas todos  los  días.  Hay nuevos sentimientos y emociones...  Puede sonar como que no me estoy divirtiendo cierto? Pues, no es eso. Es simplemente que estoy  empezando a sentir lo pesado  de  todas  esas cosas en los últimos días. Me estoy  sintiendo cansado. Quiero dormir mas. Quiero normalidad... Hablando con otros viajeros (la pareja de Polonia y algunos otros), he llegado a la conclusión que simplemente la vida es así. Hay cimas y cañones. Supongo que ahora estoy en un cañón bastante profundo y tengo que salir lo mas pronto posible porque  me quedan solo 10 días en NYC y porque quiero estar de humor 100% cuando llegue a Seattle por "Alguien"... Todo va a estar bien (ojala).

Las Fotos están un poco oscuras pero la cosa es que todas ellas fueron tomadas bastante tarde en la tarde y desde al mismo lugar, además, ya no tengo el programa de edición. Entonces, como fueron tomadas es como están aquí.
