Thanks! and See You Soon! ... By Maria.

For the last 5 days Carlos and me (Maria) have been doing a lot of interesting things all you can see in the latest posts, we have walked arround the city and spoken with all kind of people (Carlos loves to ask random things) Today we went to have lunch with Pina and Mike (Thanks! by the way, the burger was really good) also we decided to go to China Town (people say it one of the best China Town in U.S) it was like if we had been in China. Different kind of buildings, people and food. We tried a Chinese desert. It was  really weird for my taste, for Carlos was good... Maybe. Sadly, it's time to say good bye. I wish you the best, you are having a good experience and I'm glad that I was able to be part of it! Thanks for spent the whole weekend with me, it was amazing! But remember, we will meet again and we'll go to The Gran Cannyon! See you then!

En los últimos 5 días Carlos y Yo (Maria) hemos estado haciendo muchas cosas interesantes como pueden ver en las ultimas entradas, hemos caminado alrededor de la ciudad y hablado con todo tipo de personas (A Carlos le encanta preguntar cosas). Hoy fuimos a almorzar con Pina y Mike (Por cierto, gracias por la hamburguesa, estaba deliciosa) Además, decidimos ir a Chinatown (la gente dice que es uno de los mejores en USA) Fue como si estuvieramos en China. Muchos tipos de edificios gente y comida. Nos comimos y postre Chino que fue raro para mi, pero para Carlos tal vez estuvo bueno. Desgraciadamente, es tiempo de decir adiós y con mi despedida le deseo lo mejor de la vida, tu estas teniendo una buena experiencia y me alegra mucho que fui parte de ella! Gracias por pasar todo el fin de semana conmigo, fue maravilloso! Pero recuerda que nos encontraremos otra vez e iremos al Cañon del Colorado! Nos vemos pronto!

The Golden Gate Bridge!

(In one of the most touristic places ever... I had to be in one of them! Also, in Japanese photo style)

Last Friday, I woke up at 9 Am and went to take a look at the Bay and I saw the Golden Gate Bridge in one of its better days. People keep saying that it is almost all the time foggy and cloudy, so I realized that if I wanted to go there that was the day! ... We took some buses and we walked through that huge and historical bridge for almost an hour... Awesome views! .... The Golden Gate was built  in May 28th of 1937 and designed by several people.

Some Fun Facts:

The actual color is "International Orange" or "Vermilion".

Since the opening, 1,929, 844, 995 cars have crossed the bridge!

Eleven (11) workers died during the construction... This is not a Fun Fact though.

More than 30 famous movies have been filmed on the Bridge.
Most photographer Bridge in the world.

Sadly you can not throw you relatives ashes from the Bridge... It is against the law.

1.8 billions Dollars cost to build the Bridge today!

Back then, It cost 35 Millions Dollars.

El Viernes pasado, me desperté a las 9 Am y le di un vistazo a la bahía y pude ver El Golden Gate Bridge en un de sus mejores días. La gente dice que la mayoría del tiempo es nublado o con neblina , entonces me di cuenta que quería ir tenia que ser ese día!... tomamos algunos buses y caminamos por el puente inmenso y lleno de historia alrededor de una hora , excelentes vistas! El Golden Gate Bridge fue fabricado en mayo 28 de 1937 por varias personas.

Datos Curiosos

El color actual es “naranjado internacional” o “Vermillion”.

Desde la apertura 1,929, 844, 995 carros han pasado el puente!

Once (11) trabajadores murieron durante la construcción ( no tan bueno).

 Mas de 30 películas han sido gravadas en el puente.

Last Thursday, Mariandrea (I called her Maria) one of my closest friends, came from L.A where she is studying English in an International Institute. She is planning to stay here in SF with me until Monday. In our first day we went to the California Academy Museum of Science, an awesome and huge place with a nice aquarium,  great planetary and a Rain Forest inside! ... Few months ago I watched a TV program about how did they construct the building and everything else, so I was very excited to go there. We had a great time, then we walked through the Golden Gate Park to heading to the Beach. We spent a good first day together!

El Jueves pasado, Mariandrea (Yo la llamo Maria) una de mis amigos mas cercanos, vino desde L.A donde ella esta estudiando Ingles en un Instituto Internacional. Ella esta planeando quedarse en SF conmigo hasta el Lunes. En nuestro primer día fuimos a el Museo de Academia de Ciencias de California, un maravilloso y gran sitio con un buen acuario, gran planetario y un Bosque de Lluvia! ... Hace unos meses vi un programa de televisíon acerca de como ellos construyeron el edificio y todo lo demás, entonces fue excitante ir allá. La pasamos muy bacano. Luego fuimos a caminar al parque Golden Gate para ir a la playa. Fue un buen primer día juntos!

Because a friend of mine is coming to SF tomorrow, today, I walked around the city trying to avoid Touristic places in order to go to those spots with her. But "sadly" for her (Jajajaja) I found pretty nice places around SF, I took good pictures and I walked uphill for like 2 hours! ... San Francisco is one of those cities full of hippies, activists, Asians, Russians, Latins and Hills... There is also a huge amount of people on the streets (homeless) but they are really nice though... Basically, SF is 7 miles per 7 miles city, so it is walkable, the building on the neighborhoods has a unique look as well as the people who live in it. Downtown like every city, is based in tall buildings, business men, fancy cars and sometimes a guy named Carlos visiting from Colombia.

Porque una amiga mía viene para SF mañana, hoy caminé alrededor de la ciudad tratando de evadir los sitios turísticos para ir con ella a esos lugares. Pero, "tristemente" para ella (Jajajaja) encontré unos buenos lugares alrededor de SF, tomé buenas fotos y caminé por las colinas por 2 horas! ... San Francisco es una de esas ciudades llenas hippies, activistas, Asiáticos, Rusos, Latinos y Colinas. También hay una gran cantidad de personas viviendo en la calle, pero son muy queridos... Básicamente, SF es una ciudad de 10.5 por 10.5 Kilómetros, entonces es caminable, los edificios en los barrios son únicos as como la gente que vive en ellos. El centro es como toda ciudad, esta basado en edificios altos, gente de negocios, carros carisímos y algunas veces un pelao llamado Carlos visitando desde Colombia.

Three Months and... San Francisco!

2 days ago I arrived to San Francisco. I haven't been in Downtown or the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz or... All those famous tourist places. But instead, I've been in Treasure Island! A small island in the middle of the Bay Bridge (The one in the picture below). The Island was built by Humans (It is a fake island) to make a US military base during the WWII, now is an habitable island with nice parks, roads and great San Francisco views. I'm staying there with Pina, an awesome, friendly and cool friend from Bogotá, Colombia. Today I had a full sports day, at first I took a bike that I borrowed  it from one of Pina's friends and took a ride to Treasure and Yerba Buena Island for almost 3 hours, I practiced some downhill and uphill! Then, I went to play tennis with Pina for hour and a half, then we went to the Island Public Gym where I played soccer with some guys from Peru and Basketball with a bunch of guys from Asia. I'm exhausted! 

Hace 2 días llegue a San Francisco. No he visitado El Centro o el Golden Gate Bridge o Alcatraz o... Todos esos famosos sitios turísticos. Pero de lo contrario, he estado en Treasure Island! Una pequeña isla en la mitad de el Bay Bridge (El que esta en una de la fotos de abajo). La isla fue hecha por humanos (Es una isla falsa) para construir una base militar de USA durante la segunda guerra mundial. ahora es una isla habitable con parques, caminos y una gran vista de SF. Me estoy quedando aquí con Pina una increíble, amigable y bacana amiga de Bogotá, Colombia. Hoy tuve un día de "todos los deportes", primero cogí una bicicleta que pedí prestada de una amigo de Pina y ande por dos horas en Treasure Island y Yerba Buena Island por casi 3 horas, practiqué Downhill y subidas! Luego fui a jugar tenis con Pina por una hora y media, luego fuimos al Gym de la isla donde jugué Fútbol Con una gente de Perú y Basketball con unos pelados de Asia. Estoy cansadísimo!

Last Sunday I departed from Portland to San Francisco in a Ride Share with a girl from France, a guy from San Francisco and a girl from Portland.... The Ride was really cool, as always good conversations and discussion  happened. The whole Ride was practically 14 hours including some setbacks, the car experienced extremely high temperatures. I also said "Good Bye" to Jeff who hosted me for almost one week. Thanks again Jeff! ....  After the Ride, I was planning to stay with Pina (Dad's friend) but becouse I arrived too late, I stayed in Jame's house, a good vibe guy and surfer from SF. Until now, I haven't seen too much of San Francisco but when I was jogging this morning on the beach I realized how great and different  the landscape is in comparison with the NW.

El Sabado pasado, sali desde Porland hasta San Francisco in un Ride Share con una pelada de Francia, un man de San Francisco y una chica de Portland... El Ride estuvo muy bacano, y como siempre, buenas conversaciones y discuciones sucedieron. Todo el recorrido fue de practicamente 14 horas incluyendo algunos percances. El carro experimento muy altas temperaturas. Ademas, dije "Adios" a Jeff quien me hospedo por casi una semana. Gracias Jeff! .... Despues de llegar a SF, estaba pensando en quedarme con Pina (Amiga de mi Papá) pero como llegamos muy tarde, me quedé en la casade James, un man buena onda y surfer de SF. Hasta ahora, no he visto mucho de Sanfrancisco pero cuando estaba trotando esta mañana en la playa me di cuenta de lo brutal y diferente que es en comparacion con el NW.

Last Day Portland!

My week in Portland has ended. I had a good time here in Jeff's enjoying his company, I also enjoyed the amazing city and the friendly people.  Thanks Jeff for having me in your house and invited me to have dinner all the time.... Now, San Francisco is the next stop, I'm heading there today at 11 O'clock with a girls from France and a guy from Portland, It'll be like 15 hours of driving.

Mi semana en Portland ha terminado. La pase muy bueno donde Jeff disfrutando de su compañía, también disfrute mucho la maravillosa ciudad y  la amigable gente. Gracias Jeff por tenerme como huésped e invitarme a comer... Ahora, San Francisco es la siguiente parada, Estaré manejando  para allá hoy a las 11 en punto con una chica de Francia y un man de Portland, van a ser 15 horas  de viaje.

Kony 2012... (April 20th)

A few months ago, Kony, a super villain was put on every people's eye using Internet and Social Media. The guy is consider one of most dangerous men alive, resides in Uganda and like the video says, he   is using kids as soldiers, making war, trafficking drugs and guns among other things.  Here is the "Video"..... My position about this subject is Neutral! I'm not against or with the arguments on the film.

Hace unos meses, Kony, un supervillano fue puesto en cada ojo de la personas usando Internet y Social Media. El sujeto es considerado uno de los hombres mas peligrosos con vida, reside en Uganda y como el vídeo dice, el esta usando niños como soldados, haciendo guerra, traficando drogas y  armas entre otras cosas. Aquí esta el "Vídeo" .... Mi posición acerca de este tema es Neutral! No estoy en contra ni con los argumentos del filme.
