5000+ Views!

This is an honor! My goal is half completed! I want 10000 views ... Thanks everyone for looking at my pictures, my writing, my Blog. I will  keep posting the things I've done, the experiences and of course, the pictures! ... I'm also going to tell about my next plans... My time in the Middle of the US (which is actually consider the West) is coming to an end. Sunday evening, I'm heading East to New York City, Boston, Philly and Washington D.C.  (I have 1 month and a few to complete all those 4 big and massive cities). I'll spent more time in NYC though. I have heard that it is Amazing! (Woody Allen loves it, I guess he has a good reason!).

Esto es un honor! Mi meta ha sido medio completada! Quiero 1000 visitas. ... Gracias a todos por ver mis imagenes, mis escritos, mi Blog. Voy a seguir poniendo las cosas que he hecho, las experiencias, y por supuesto, las imagenes! ... Además, voy a contar mis siguientes planes. Mi tiempo en la mitad de USA (Que es considerado el Oeste) esta llegando a su fin. El Domingo en la noche, me estaré dirigiendo hacia New York City, Boston, Philly and Washington D.C (Tengo un mes y unos cuantos dias para completar esas grandes ciudades). Sin embargo pasaré mas tiempo en NYC. He escuchado que es maravilloso! (Woody  Allen lo ama, supongo que tiene buenos motivos!).

Boulder Events.

Since I arrived in Boulder, events like concerts,  bike rides, farmet markets and even natural disasters have occured constantly. Most of them fun  but som others, well... Natural disasters!

Desde que llegue a Boulder, eventos como conciertos, montadas en cicla, Mercado de granjeros e incluso  desastres naturales han ocurrido constantemente. Casi todos muy divertidos, algunos otros... Desastres Naturales!

Happy Thursday: Every Thursday during summer, a bunch of kids, college students, travelers and some professors, take their bikes and all together thay ride around the city. I went to the last Happy Thursday, well... the last Thursday. It was fun, hilarious and unique. About 1000 person where there and we were, besides cycling, Partying! Many bikes had speakers and music. We stopped a few times to celebrate "Happy Thursday!"... If you are in Boulder a Thursday night. You will heard "Happy Thursday Everyone!"

Feliz Jueves: Cada Jueves durante el verano, un mundo de pelaos, estudiantes, viajeros y algunos profesores toman sus bicicletas y todo juntos andan al rededor de la ciudad. Yo fui al ultimo "Feliz Jueves"... el ultimos Jueves. Estuvo divertido, charro y único. Acerca de 1000 personas estaban allá aparte de montar en cicla, de Fiesta! muchas ciclas tenían parlantes y música. Paramos una cuantas veces para celebrar el "Feliz Jueves!"... Si usted estuvo en Boulder un Jueves en la noche. Usted escucho, "Feliz Jueves a todo el mundo!"

The Fire: A few days ago, there was a huge wood fire at just about 1 mile from where I'm staying. It was huge and smoky. Sadly, for Boulder county. There wasn't enough aircraft and helicopters to help. (At the same time there was 10 fires in the State of Colorado).

El Incendio: Hace unos días, hubo un gran incendio en el bosque a mas o menos una 1.6 km de donde yo estaba. Era grande y con mucho humo. Tristemente para Boulder, no había suficientes aviones y helicópteros. (Al mismo tiempo, había otros 10 incendios el Estado de Colorado)

Last Sunday, Thomas and I decided to go to Hike in the Rockies. We took two dogs (Sarge and Turbo). The whole hike was really fun, some parts on the snow and some other between lakes and meadows. It took us about 10 hours to do it all.... After finishing we had a Green Chili with salad that (Like Thomas said)... "Hit the spot"... All those trail are just about 1 hour from Boulder in public transportation. Great, doesn't it!

El domingo pasado, Thomas y yo decidimos ir a Caminar a las Rockies. Nos llevamos dos perros (Sarge y Turbo). La caminata fue muy divertida, algunas partes en nieve, otras entre lagos y entre valles. Nos tomó 10 horas terminarlo todo... Después de acabar, nos comimos un Chile Verde con ensalada que (Según Thomas) "Le dio el punto"... Todos esos caminos están a mas o menos 1 hora desde Boulder en transporte publico. Bacano, no?

What I've Done in Boulder.

In the last entree I already told how great Boulder is... Now, I'm gonna tell how am I absorbing that greatness!... I also already told everyone that I'm staying in a Couch Surfer house. The guy's name is Thomas  and he has been really kind with me (He left me stay for about 2 weeks!). He also has 7 bikes and he is a marathon runner...  I lend one of his bikes and I started to discover the city... First: I went to the CU (Colorado University) campus. A huge and awesome place with open spaces and bike paths. I would love to study in a university like that one but international student year tuition is about 30 grand (That's insane!)... Second: I went to "The Hill", a small neighborhood with a few bars and restaurants. There, I had a Five Guys Burger. It was delicious! (Best fast food ever!)... Third: I went to the antiques shops in Pearl St. where I bought a Chinese/American old compass. There was also really interesting books and little things... Fourth: I had dinner with Thomas and another Couch Surfer (Erik) in Pearl St. Mall. We had Burritos and we talk about how money can actually buy happiness (If you are not happy you are probably spending it wrong). Fifth: Bike across the bike path in Boulder Creek. Great scenic bike path with a refreshing air (The average temperature in Boulder around this days is 108 Fº). Also, I took a fast run with Emory (another Couch Surfer) in the same path, after the run, we jumped into the creek! So refreshing!

En la entrada anterior conté cuan maravilloso es Boulder, ahora, contaré como me la estoy gozando!  Ya conté también que me estoy quedando en la casa de un Couch Surfer. El se llama Thomas y ha sido un bacan conmigo (Me dejó quedar por 2 semanas!). El además tiene 7 ciclas y es corredor de maratón... Le pedí prestado una de sus ciclas... Primero: Fui al CU (Universidad de Colorado) campus. Un lugar grandioso con espacios abiertos y caminos para bicicletas. Me encantaría estudiar en un lugar como esos pero el costo de un año como estudiante internacional es de 60 millones de pesos (Eso es loquisimo!)... Segundo: Fui a "La Loma", un pequeño vecindario con unos pocos bares y restaurantes. Allá me comí una hamburguesa en "Five Guys". Estaba deliciosa! (Mejor comida rápida!)... Tercero: Recorrí a las anticuarías en Pearl St. donde compré una vieja brújula Chino/Americana. También habían muchos libros y cositas interesantes... Cuarto: Comí burritos con Thomas y otro Couch Surfer (Erik) en el Mall de Pearl St. donde también hablamos de como el dinero en realidad puede comprar felicidad (Si no eres feliz, lo mas probable lo estas gastando mal). Quinto: Montada en cicla alrededor de el camino del rió de Boulder. Pintoresco camino con un aire refrescante (La temperatura promedio en estos días ha sido de 40 Cº). Además, corrí un poco con Emory (otro Couch Surfer) en el mismo camino, después de correr nos metimos al rió! Muy refrescante!

Finally! Boulder has it all!

I'm finally in Boulder and I'm having Fun! This town is unbelievable. Boulder is located at about 40 minutes from Denver (The capital city of Colorado). Boulder is a university town (There is a few Colleges campuses around here... The biggest one is the CU (Colorado University)) That means that young people, lots of young people live here. That also means that cute and beautiful women live here ;)... Besides those awesome things, Boulder also has bike paths in almost every street, a small creek where you can swim or just hang out with friends, huge parks with activities every week... Boulder also has the Rockies nearby, so there is hikes trails, mountain bikes trails and about 10 huge rocks and a lot of Boulders to practice rock climbing... Boulder also has farmet markets twice a weeks and a bunch of Organic markets around the city, that means that almost all the food you can get in restaurants is Organic!... Boulder also has good and clean transportation system... Boulder also has... Do you want more? Here it is!

Finalmente estoy en Boulder y la estoy pasando muy bien! Esta pequeña ciudad es maravillosa. Boulder esta ubicado a 40 minutos de Denver (La capital de Colorado). Boulder es una ciudad universitaria (Hay un par de campus alrededor de aqui... El mas grande es el de CU (Universidad de Colorado)) Eso significa que gente joven, mucha gente joven vive aqui. Eso tambien significa que chicas bonitas y queridas viven aqui ;)..... a parte de todas esas cosas bacanas, Boulder tambien tiene caminos para las bicicletas en casi cada calle, un pequeño rio donde una puede nadar o estar con los amigosm grandes parques con muchas actividades cada semana... Boulder tiene tambien las Rocosas muy cerca, entonces hay trochas para cominar, trochas para las bicicletas y cerca de 10 grandes rocas y Boulders para practicar escalada en roca... Boulder tambien tiene mercados de granjeros dos veces a la semana y un mundo de Mercados Organicos alrededor de la ciudad, eso significa que casi toda la comida de los restaurantes es Organica... Boulder ademas tiene un buen sistema de transporte rapido y limpio... Boulder tambien tiene... Quieren mas?  Aqui va!

Trying to Get to Boulder #2

After Three Musketeers, my nose started to bleed (This environment is really dry and I'm used to moist weather). However, the blood episodes helped me a little bit, it gave me time to meet Tina. I was walking looking for a bathroom and a woman said "Do you want to go to Boulder, Don't you" I said, "Hell Yeah!". We drove all the afternoon and part of the evening but it was too late for me to stay in Boulder (I didn't have a any place to sleep that night) So, Tina invited me to stay with her in Someone house in the mountains. In the morning, Someone offered me a job in a recycling plant, 20 bucks for 30 minutes of work (The best 30 min payed ever!) After that, Tina dropped me off in Mc Donald's where I pluged my computer and sent a Couch Request in CouchSurfing... What I am about to tell is one of the luckiest thinks I have ever told... The only request I sent was responded 15 later by Thomas so I ask them where does he live and he said "about a block from where you are"... What are the odds of that!? ... Right now, I'm still staying with Thomas.

Someone: He is a guy, I don't remember his name.

Después de los Tres Mosqueteros, mi nariz empezó a sangrar (Este ambiente es muy seco y yo estoy acostumbrado a uno mas húmedo). Sin embargo, el episodio sangriento me ayudo un poco, me dio tiempo para conocer a Tina.... Estaba caminando buscando un baño y una mujer dice "Usted quiere ir a Boulder si o que? Yo dije, "Claro que si!" Manejamos toda la tarde y parte de la noche pero era muy tarde para mi para quedarme en Boulder (No tenia ningún sitio para dormir esa noche) Entonces, Tina me invito a quedarme con ella en la casa de Alguien en la montañas. En la mañana, Alguien me ofreció un trabajo en una planta de reciclaje, 20 dolares por 30 minutos de trabajo (Los mejores 30 minutos pagados de mi vida9 Después de eso, Tina me dejo en una Mc Donald's donde conecté mi computador y envié una solicitud de sofá en CouchSurfing... Lo que estoy a punto de contar es la cosa mas suertuda que me ha pasado... La única solicitud que envié fue respondida 15 minutos después por Thomas entonces le pregunte que en donde vivía y me dijo que a una cuadra de donde yo estaba... Cuales son la portabilidades de eso!? ... Ahora mismo, me estoy quedando con Thomas

Trying to get to Boulder #1.

After finishing Mt. Wilson in the San Juan Rockies, Vincent drop me off on the road. I started to hitchhike again. I was tired, thirsty, hungry and sleepy. Lucky for me (I said it again!) someone picked me up in about 15 minutes. They dropped me off in a small town called Montrose. Everything were closed but a Burger King were open... I had a Whopper. My vegetarianism ended there... I realized that sometimes when you are traveling the rules have to be broken! After eating, I kept hitchhiking. It was night already and I was really sleepy but... Lucky for me (Again!) a couple picked me up and invited me to stay in their campground (What are the odds?). I spent the night there (it was located up in the woods, Thanks!). Then, I started to Hitchhiked again and 3 guys in a RV picked me up and left me in a gas station close to the highway I had to take.

Drivers Profiles:

Vincent: Awesome guy, really interested in plants and conservation. Good mountaineering... Nice to meet some young people too! Also we had some really interested talk about his trip to Colombia and Ecuador.

Unknown: After Vincent. 2 people picked me up. They didn't ask anything about me, it was a quite ride. They drop me off in Montrose.

The Campground Couple: Originally from Boulder. Just like my family, they are trying to make a successful touristic business. For them, it is a Campground. Awesome people! Thanks for made me feel like at home.

Three Musketeers: Tree guys. Father, son, and son's friend... Nice people. They invited me to drink something in a Cantina.


Después de terminar el Mt. Wilson en las Rocosas de San Juan, Vincent me dejo en la carretera. Empecé a echar dedo otra vez. Estaba cansado, sediento, con hambre y con ganas de dormir. Por suerte para mi (Lo dije otra vez!) alguien me recogió en unos 15 minutos. Ellos me dejaron en un pueblo llamado Montrose. Casi todo estaba cerrado pero un Burger King estaba abierto... Me comí una hamburguesa. Mi vegetarianismo terminó allí... ME di cuenta que algunas veces cundo uno esta viajando las reglas se tienen que romper! Después de comer, seguí hitchhikiando. Estaba de noche y teni mucho mucho sueño pero... Por suerte para mi (Otra vez!) una pareja me recogió y me invitaron a quedarme en su campamento (cuales son los chances de eso?). Pase la noche allá. Al otro día, empecé a echar dedo otra vez y 3 personas me recogieron en una RV y me dejaron en una bomba cerca de una autopista que tenia que coger...

Perfiles de Conductores:

Vincent: Un pelado muy bacano, muy interesado en plantas y conservación. Buen escalador... Bueno conocer otras personas jóvenes también! Además tuvimos bastantes conversaciones interesantes acerca de su viaje a Colombia y Ecuador.

Desconocidos: Después de Vincent, 2 personas me recogieron. No me preguntaron nada, fue un ride silencioso. Ellos me dejaron en Montrose.

La pareja del Campamento: Originalmente de Boulder. Ellos están tratando de hacer un negocio en el área turística. En su caso es un Campamento. Gracias por hacerme sentir como en casa.

Tres Mosqueteros: Tres hombres, Papa, hijo y amigo del hijo... Buenas personas. Me invitaron a tomar algo en una Cantina.

(In the Mt. Wilson Summit... 14.127 ft)

After those 5 days with Julien in Moab. I was planning to go to Durango (a small town in the south of Colorado). Julien, left me in the road outside of town and we said goodbye to each other. Nice to meet you and I hope you can make it to my place in Colombia!... When I was on the road, the first 30 seconds Vincent picked me up. He is a really good vibe guy who works for the National Park service as a conservationist. He was planning to go to climb one of the tallest picks in the Rockies and I said to him if I can join him to the summit. He said yes! (I didn't go to Durango but I made a 14ner!)... The expedition was really really sweet! some parts with snow, some others with big rocks and some others with a little bit of climbing! ... We spent the night on the wood and the next day at about 8 o`clock we headed to the summit. It took 8 hours to do it and some property trespassing too ... A guy build his house in the middle of the trail so we climbers have to walk 5 miles more to get to the summit, we finally made the trespassing but still... What an ass hole!

Después de 5 días con Julien en Moab. Yo estaba planeando ir a Durango (Un pequeño pueblo al sur de Colorado). Julien me dejo en la autopista en las afueras del pueblo y nos dijimos adiós. Fue un placer conocerte y espero que puedas llegar a mi casa en Colombia!... Cuando estaba en la autopista, los primeros 30 segundo, Vincent me recogió. El es un tipo muy bacano que trabaja en Los Parques Nacionales como conservacionista. El estaba planeando escalad una de las montañas mas altas de las Rocosas y le dije que se lo podía acompañar hasta la cima. El dijo que si! (No fui a Durango pero hice un 14ner!) ... La expedición fue muy muy buena! Algunas partes con nieve, otras con grandes rocas y algunas otras con escalada en roca! ... Pasamos la noche en el bosque y el el día siguiente como a las 8 de la mañana nos dirigimos hacia la cima. Nos tomó 8 horas para hacerlo y un poco de invasión de propiedad... Alguien construyo su casa en l mitad del camino entonces nosotros los escaladores tenemos que caminar 5 millas mas para llegar a la cima. Finalmente invadimos la propiedad pero igualmente... Que pirobo!

Arches National Park.

After spent one night in "the best campground of all" Julien and I headed to Arches National Park. Unlike to other parks, Arches is meant to drive through out it and walk a mile long top. I guess that is what people want, a mile long trail with 10 water stops and no altitude gain. It was really fun though.... Just like the Grand Canyon, Arches is a geological paradise. It is amazing how salt, wind, ice and water can change things with the help of time... The Arches were form and are being form by salt residues. They gather in one point and the arch start to appeared. It is not a National Park actually, looks more like a recreational area... After Arches we spent another 2 night in the camp where we met Nacho and Dani, a really cool couple from Spain. Nice talk and good food too.

Después de pasar una noche en el "mejor campamento de todos"Julien y yo nos fuimos a El Parque Nacional de los Arcos. A diferencia de los otros parques, Arches es hecho para manejar a través de el y caminar una milla máximo. supongo que eso es lo que la gente quiere, un camino de una milla, con 10 puntos de agua y nada de altitud. Sin embargo, fue divertido.... Justo como el gran cañón, Arches es un paraíso geológico. Es maravilloso como la sal, el viento el hielo y el agua pueden cambiar las cosas con un poco de ayuda del viento... Los Arcos se formaron y están siendo formados  por residuos de sal. Ellos se juntan en un punto y el arco empieza a aparecer. No es un parque nacional actualmente, se parece mas como un área de recreación... Después de los Arcos, nos quedamos 2 noches mas en el el campamento donde conocimos a Nacho y a Dani una pareja bacana de España. Buenas charlas y buena comida.

After we drove all night and crossed Utah border line, we got to Moab, a small town in the middle of nowhere with a special mood and ambient. There in Moab there is cold winter with snow and hot summer with, well… Heat! At 2 in the morning we were looking for campgrounds and It-was-hard. First we ran into a drunk guy who offered us a campsite for 10 dollars for 4 hours only. Not a good deal. Then, we asked and asked in lots of camps and nothing… Finally at about 3 am we found what apparently it is the best campground of all… First, it has shade all day! Second, it has access to the Colorado River really easy and last but not least there are only 7 campsites, so it is not so crowded. We swam in the Colorado, and cooked nice dinners (Bagels, Avocado and Sardines). We had a great time!

Después de manejar toda la noche y pasar la frontera de Utah, llegamos a Moab, un pequeño pueblo en la mitad de la nada con un ambiente y humor especial. Allá en Moab hay inviernos muy fríos con nieve y veranos muy calientes con, pues… Calor! A las 2 de la mañana estábamos buscando por sitios para acampar y- fue- difícil. Primero nos encontramos con un borracho que nos ofreció  un campamento por 10 dolares por solo 4 horas. No era una buena oferta. Luego, preguntamos y preguntamos y preguntamos en muchos campamentos y nada… Finalmente alrededor de las 3 de la mañana encontramos lo que es aparentemente es el mejor campamento de todos… Primero, tiene sombra todo el tiempo! Segundo,  tiene un acceso al rió muy fácil y por ultimo pero no menos importante, hay solo 7 campamentos así que no es lleno de gente. Nadamos en el Colorado y cocinamos buenas comidas (Bagels, Aguacate y sardinas). La pasamos muy bien!

Monument Valley and Navajos.

Once Julien picked me up, we started to talk about our plans... My plan was Colorado and his plan was Utah... However, he invited me to go to Monument Valley and I said Yes! then he invited me to Arches and Moab and I said Yes! of course!... Monument Valley is located in the Navajo nation (they have the biggest indigenous nation of all US... Includes parts of New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Colorado). Monument Valley is a not so dry desert with majestic rock formation in the middle of it. I'm 100 % sure that everyone have seen that in some pictures or movies in their lives! The Navajos just like the government, ask for a fee for the park (that's part their income) they also have agriculture and miner industries... We spent the afternoon there, at night we decided to drive 200 miles more to Moab, Utah... Where we are right now!

Una vez que Julien me recogí, empezamos a hablar acerca de nuestros planes... Mi plan era ir a Colorado y el plan de el era Utah... Sin embargo, el me convenció de ir a Monument Valley yo dije que si! luego el me invito a Arches y Moab y yo dije que si! que claro!... Monument Valley is ubicado en la nación Navajo (ellos tienen la nación indígena mas grande de USA... incluye partes de Nuevo México, Utah, Arizona y Colorado) Es un desierto no muy seco con majestuosas formaciones de roca en la mitad de el. Estoy 100 % seguro que todos han visto eso en películas o fotos en su vida!  Los Navajos así como el gobierno de la USA cobran por la entrada (Es parte de sus ingresos) ellos además tienen industrias de agricultura y minería.... Pasamos la tarde allá y en la noche decidimos manejar otros 320 Km mas hasta Moab, Utah... Donde estamos ahora mismo!

Hitchhiking with Good luck!

(It wasn't as hot as the desert!) ... (No estaba tan caliente como el desierto!)

About a week ago, my mood and energy had been down until I woke up 2 days ago and started to hit the road... Just after finishing the Rim to Rim trail and stayed in the camp for a for four days I was dizzy and... it is hard to say this but... maybe... I little bit... homesick! ... However, after that and after organize some things, I put the bag on my shoulders again and my bad karma and those homesick feelings disappeared  right away!... On the road I ran into 3 wonderful people... Just like the other time and the next ones to come, I'm gonna talk about the drivers.

The "Grand Canyon" girl: Just the day before starting to hitchhike... I asked randomly "who want to take me outside the park"... She said... "Me"... She was a therapist of children who where punished and beaten by their parents. She was tired of his job and went to the grand canyon to live in peace for a while.

The "good guy" Andrew: In the 89 road in a really nice car, Andrew a biologist and traveler from Phoenix picked me up... Awesome guy, friendly and talk able... His history touch me really hard but It would remain in my mind... He also hiked and kayaked all the grand Canyon. He's going to Tibet in about 6 day for 2 months, cool ah? .... It was nice to meet you! hope to back pack one of this days with you.

The "South-american-french" Julien: Andrew left me in the 160 intersection (It was hot there) but lucky for me (I'm just gonna say it every entree), about 1 minute later, Julien picked me up! Really nice guy, loves south america and chile, wine expert and a traveler ... I've been with him 2 days and we have been in a lot of places (National Monument Valley, Arches and Moab) and we have had so much fun too ... After this he is going to Australia, Asia and Russia, cool ha?

Hace una semana mas o menos, tuvé un un animo y una energía un poco bajas, hasta que me desperté  hace 2 días y empecé a andar... Justo después de terminar la trocha de Borde a Borde y quedarme en el campamento por unos días, estuve mareado y.. es duro decir esto... pero... de pronto...  con un poco... de... Ganas de Casa! ... Sin embargo, luego de esos días y de organizar un par de cosas, puse mi morral en los hombros otra vez y mi mal karma y esos sentimientos de nostalgia desaparecieron ahí mismo! ... en la carretera me topé con 3 maravillosas personas... Justo como la otra vez y las próximas en venir, voy a hablar acerca de los conductores.

La chica del "Gran Cañón:  Justo antes de empezar a hitchhikear... Pregunte al azar "Alguien me puede sacar del parque?"... Ella dijo... "Yo"... Ella era terapeuta de niños que eran maltratados y golpeados por sus padres. Ella estaba cansada de el trabajo y se fue al gran canon a vivir en paz por un tiempo.

El "Buen tipo" Andrew: En la 89, con un buen carro, Andrew un biólogo y mochilero de Phoenix me recogió... Muy bacan, amable y conversador... Su historia me toco bastante fuerte pero se quedara conmigo... Además el camino y ando en ka-yak todo e Cañón del Colorado. El se va a ir a el Tibet en unos 6 días por 2 meses, brutal ha? ... Fue un gusto conocerte! Espero que mochileros un día de estos.

El "Sudamericano- Francés" Julien: Andrew me dejó en la intersección de la 160 (Estaba caliente!) pero por suerte para mi (voy a decir esto en cada entrada), después de  minuto después, Julien me recogió! Muy buen tipo, ama Sudamerica y Chile, experto en vino y viajero. He estado con el 2 días y hemos estado en muchos sitios (Monument Valley, Arches y Moab)... Luego de esto el se va a Australia, Asia y Rusia, bacano no?

Right now, I'm in Moab Utah... I've been traveling with Julien (the last guy who picked me up) for 3 days. Tomorrow our paths will separate. I have been in Monument Valley and Arches National Park and camping close to the Colorado river... Thanks for picked me up and be part of my adventure. Let's travel sometimes!

I will put much more entries about those places and and experience. Beautiful places!

Ahora mismo, estoy en Moab, Utah... He estado viajando con Julien (el ultimo que me recogió) por 3 días. Mañana nuestros caminos se separaran. He estado en Monument Valley, Arches y acampando cerca al rió Colorado... Gracias por recogerme y ser parte de mi aventura.

Pondré muchas mas entradas de esos lugares y experiencias. Bellos lugares!

Grand Canyon Rounded!

North Rim: Basically, the huge difference from the other Rim is that here it is relaxing, not crouded at all and cooler (It is 300 feet higher than the South Rim)… After finishing the 36 hours trail, I went to the campground and I found the best spot of all, it is located right in the border of the cliff. There is beautiful  view from here. However, I’m not planning to stay here much longer. My time in the Grand Canyon is coming to an end. My next stop is Canyon lands and Arches! More and more Canyons ahead…. Hitchhiking in the park is illegal so it’s going to be hard to get out of here.

Borde Norte: Basicamente, la gran diferencia entre el otro borde es que aquí es relajante, sin gente y mas frio (es 100 mas alto que el otro borde)… Despues de terminar las 36 horas de camino, fua al campamento y encontré el mejor lugar de todos, esta ubicado justo en el borde del acantilado. La vista es bellísima! Sin embargo, no me estoy pensando quedarme aquí por mucho mas. My tiemp en el gran canon esta llegando a su fin. My próximo destino es Canyonlands ( Tierra de Cañones) y Archees (Arcos) mas y mas Cañones adelante… echar dedo en el parque es ilegal, entonces va a ser difícil salir de aquí.

Pros and Cons of the Park: The environment is great, the trails are well made, the rangers have been really nice with me and the campgrounds are really good designed… Besides that, I’ve felt that the mood and the vibe a little bit heavy. It is not as relax and friendly as it was in Yosemite. It might be that climbers and backpackers get along really well. I’m the only one in the hikers-cyclist camp!

Pros y contras del Parque: el medio ambiente es genial, los caminos estan bien hechos, los rangers han sido bastante queridos conmigo y los campamentos estan bien diseñados… a Parte de eso, he sentido que el ambiente y la onda son un poco pesadas. NO es tran relajado y amable a como fue en Yosemite. Puede ser que los escaladores y mochileros se llevan muy bien. Soy el único en el campamento de mochileros-cyclistas!

Extending: There is something wrong with me in this last couple of days in the north rim. I've been feeling dizzy and light-headed. I need some rest! If I find a ride I will take it, otherwise I'm gonna stay here until the 12th. I have Internet connection, some food and a relaxing enviroment... So... why not?

Extendiendo: Hay algo mal conmigo en estos últimos días en el borde norte. Me he estado sintiendo, mareado y confuso. Necesito o un poco de descanso! Si encuentro un ride lo voy a coger, pero si no, me quedaré hasta al 12... Tengo Internet, algo de comida y un ambiente relajante... Entonces... Porque no?

Grand Canyon Second Third.

I have been in the Grand Canyon for 5 days and I'm gonna stay a couple of more... Great place, extreme weather and hard hikes... I will put 3 entries telling about what is going on around here! This is the second third.


He estado en el Gran Cañón por 5 días y me quedaré un par de días mas... Bello lugar, clima extremo y duras caminatas... Pondré 3 entradas contando que es lo que esta pasando por aquí! Este es el segundo tercio.

Rim To Rim: A few days ago I had this crazy idea in my mind… Crossing the Grand Canyon rim to rim (South to North) for two reasons, first it is a big ass challenge and second, I have to do it because I'm going north to Canyonlands…. First I had to obtain a permit that people used to book 5 months in advance. Lucky for me (I said it again!) A lot of people canceled the night I was going to camp. I prepared mi stuff and hit the trail… I said It was crazy before because I only had 1 night and 2 days to walk 24 miles considering that I can’t be on the trail from 9 am to 5 pm (Too hot to hike), and that my backpack weighted about 60 pounds. 

De Borde a Borde: Hace unos días, tuve está loca idea en mi mente… Cruzar el Grand Cañón de borde a borde (Sur a norte) por dos razones, primero es un gran desafio y segundo, lo tengo que hacer por que voy a ir al norte despues de esto … Primero tenía que obtener un permiso que las personas suelen reservar por 5 meses de anticipación. Por suerte para mí (Lo dije otra vez!) muchas personas cancelaron la noche en la que yo iba a acampar. Preparé mis cosas y empecé a caminar… Dije que era loca porque solo tenía una noche y 2 días para caminar 35 Km considerando que no podía estar en la trocha desde las 9 am hasta las 5 pm (Muy caliente para andar) y que además mi morral pesaba alrededor de 25 Kg.

(Todo el camino era basicamente bajar al cañón, y seguir el otro cañón en la mitad de la fotografia, luego, doblar a la izquierda y subir!)

First Part: The first day was the longest. 10 miles from the rim to bright angel campground. I departed at 4 pm and arrived at 8:30 at night… I couldn't even put the tent (I was tired and I could lose sleep time); I just slept on the table. Next day, I woke up at 4 am and hit the trail as soon as possible.  I got to cotton campground about 9 am and as well as the night before, I slept on the table during the day. After resting and eating a delicious camping meal with Bagels, avocado, hot sauce, anchovies and crackers (Phil from Berkeley thought it to me), I hit the road again.

Primera Parte: El primer día fue el más largo. 16 millas desde el borde hasta el campamento... Partí a las 4 pm y llegue a las 8:30 de la noche… No pude ni siquiera poner la carpa (estaba cansado y perdía tiempo de sueño); Dormí en la mesa de comida. El próximo día me desperté a las 4 y empecé a caminar lo más pronto posible. Llegue al campamento de Cottonwood  alrededor de la 9 am y al igual que la noche anterior dormí en la mesa durante el día. Después de descansar y comerme un delicioso almuerzo de camping con bagels, aguacate, salsa picante, anchoas y galletas (Me lo enseño Phil de Berkeley) empecé a caminar otra vez.

Second Part: When I started walking at 6 pm after lunch. I was extremely sore and tired to keep going to the top. That's why I couldn't make it in 24 hours. So, right in the middle of the trail at 8 pm approximately I decided to go sleep! I found a small house close to a river and just like the other times, I put my sleeping bag on the floor and... Zzzzz. Later on, I woke up at 2 am and started walking to the top. It was hard! I can say that some tears of impotence and pain mixed with some of anger and deception came out of my eyes in some part of the trail (Not proud of that). Finally after 38 hours of carrying a 60 pounds pack, eating camping food, and sleeping in the floor or diner tables... I achieved it!

Segunda Parte: Cuando empecé a caminar a las 6 de la tarde luego del almuerzo. Estaba extremadamente cansado y molido para seguir hasta la cima. Por eso no lo pude hacer en 24 horas. Entonces, justo en a mitad del camino a la 8 pm aproximadamente decidí ir a dormir! encontré una pequeña casa cerca a un rió, y, como las otras noches, puse mi sleeping en el piso y... Zzzz. Luego de eso, me desperté a las 2 de la mañana y empecé a caminar hasta la cima. Fue difícil! Puedo decir que algunas lágrimas de impotencia y dolor, mezcladas con furia y decepción salieron de mis ojos (No estoy orgulloso de eso). Finalmente, luego de 36 horas cargando un morral de 25 Kg, comiendo comida de camping y durmiendo en el piso o mesas... Lo conseguí!
