Grand Canyon First Third.

I have been in the Grand Canyon for 5 days and I'm gonna stay a couple of more... Great place, extreme weather and hard hikes... I will put 3 entries telling about what is going on around here! This is the first third


He estado en el Gran Cañón por 5 días y me quedaré un par de días mas... Bello lugar, clima extremo y duras caminatas... Pondré 3 entradas contando que es lo que esta pasando por aquí! Este es el primer tercio.

First Look: After hitchhike, I arrived into the Mather Campground. The first thing I saw was "Sorry Full For Tonight"... So I looked for other campgrounds in the area but they were really far away from the action. Lucky for me (I've said that for a million times... I guess I'm just lucky hahaha) a cute Ranger girl told me that she can open a camp site just for me, just because I'm a backpacker... Cool ah? ... So I stayed in Mather campground in a nice spot... The same day, I started exploring the South Rim and took the Rim trail all the way west and really close to the edge... The first look was unbelievable, the Canyon is huge, massive, beautiful, dry... Magnificent. The weather up here in the rim is perfect, never to cold, never to hot. However, down in the Colorado river is another thing. After Exploring and taking a lot of pictures, I made myself  a delicious Tomato pasta for dinner and went to sleep.

La Primera Vista: Después de hacer autostop, llegue al Campamento Mather. La primera cosa que vi fue "Lo sentimos, campamento lleno"... Entonces, busque otros sitios para acampar en el área, pero estaban muy lejos de la acción. Por suerte para mi (He dicho esto muchas veces... Seguramente soy un suertudo jajaja) una linda chica Ranger (es como los policías de los bosques) me dijo que ella podía hacer un espacio para mi, solo porque soy un mochilero... Brutal, si o que? ... Entonces me quede en un buen lugar en Mather... El mismo día, empecé a explorar el Borde Sur y tome todo un camino hasta el este y bastante cerca al acantilado... La primera vez que lo vi fue increíble, el Cañón es muy grande, masivo, bello, seco... Magnifico. El clima aquí arriba en el borde es perfecto, nunca muy frió ni nunca muy caliente. Sin embargo, abajo en el rió es otro cuento. Después de explorar y tomar muchas fotos, me hice una deliciosa pasta napolitana y me fui a dormir.

How was it made and how is being made: The Colorado River millions and millions of years ago started to erode the land. The huge difference from Yosemite is that the type of rocks located in Arizona and the Grand Canyon are way more soft and easy destructive that's part of why is so deep and wide. Also, The Colorado River and other small creeks have been doing more work during the past 2 million years because of the fast and massive deglaciation... I'm loving this place, is the Geologist paradise... Every layer has tales and a history to tell... Finally, the Colorado river is still doing the Canyon more deeper and wider, not forever though, until it gets to base level.

Como fue hecho y como se esta haciendo: El Rió Colorado millones y millones de años atrás empezó a erosionar esta tierra. La gran diferencia de Yosemite es que el tipo de rocas ubicada en Arizona y El Gran Cañón son mucho mas suaves y fáciles de destruir. Por eso es tan profundo y ancho. Además, el Colorado y otros ríos mas pequeños han estado haciendo mucho trabajo en los últimos años ya que la glaciaciones han sido mas rápidas y masivas... Estoy amando este sitio, es un paraíso para lo geólogos... Cada capa tiene cuentos e historias para contar... Finalmente, el Colorado va a seguir haciendo mas profundo y ancho el cañón, pero no no para siempre, hasta que llegue al nivel base.

(As you can see in the picture above, the Bright Angel creek made that canyon in the middle of  the picture... The canyon made by the Colorado river is even bigger!)

Experience in South Rim: Just like most of the parks and natural places I've been, humans can't just visit them, respect them and feel the mood of those sanctuaries. Buses, fancy restaurants and hotels around here... I'm not saying that it should be just for some people but RV's, Tourist buses and Hook-up's should be regulated by National parks association (It is amazing how much they are). Should be called, "The city of South Rim".

Experiencia en el Borde Sur: Al igual que todos los parques y lugares naturales a los que he ido, los seres humanos no pueden solo visitarlos, respetarlos y sentir el ambiente de estos santuarios. Buses, restaurantes lujosos y hoteles por todas partes... No estoy diciendo que solo debe ser visitado por algunas personas pero Casas Rodantes, Buses turísticos y Remolques deben ser regulados por La asociación de Parques Naturales (Es impresionante todos los que hay!). Debe ser llamado, "La ciudad del Borde Norte"
