Telling part of this amazing adventure that i have been dreaming and living... well, one of the thousands i have in mind. Telling emotions, telling landscapes, feelings...

Contando emociones, contando paisajes, sentimientos...

To be able to listen to them I think you will have to download Spotify. It's worth it though, it's a great app!

A Bunch of Things #1

First of all, I want to explain why I haven't been posting constantly the blog. It is not because I'm leaving this project away, it is because the things I've been doing don't fit in the blog, sort of. How ever, those things that fit on the blog will be on the blog.

Last Sunday, Carolyn (Abby's mom), Abby and I, went to the summer state fair on Monroe. The fair was amazingly fun! It was just the way I pictured. Animals, Kids attractions Shows, fast food (or how people call it, Junk food). We spent the morning and the afternoon there looking at cows, horses, sheep, bees, bunnies, chicken... Eating scones, grilled onion burgers and corn dogs... Enjoying shows like the lumberjack show among other ones... Have you ever seen those movies where kids scape from home to go to the fair that's in the city for a few days?, you know, those on the movies!

Living, Doing and Eating.

(This is the view from the back yard... Pretty cool ah?)

I arrive to Seattle 2 weeks ago, and everyday it impressed me more! It is the environment, it is th people, it is everything. I've been turning myself into a worker/date/traveler. I'm living in a beautiful house located in North Seattle close to the Washington Lake where Kim and Cass "two wonderful people"  also live. I'm also working in the house, doing gardening, cleaning the pool, cleaning the house and other kind of chores. The Food around here is unbelievable! Kim is always creating wonderful dishes that makes me feel both at home and dining in a fancy place (What else can you ask for?). I'm also been doing some biking and cooking, I made my family recipe blackberry Jam (I picked up the berries myself). And last but not least, I'm hanging out with Abby. We've been doing some pretty cool stuff such as running and jumping to swim in the lake, watching movies, cooking tacos, making pancakes and cheese cakes, going to a concert (Just one yet), being lazy together... Those kind of stuff ... Also, I've been having the possibility to hangout/talk with her family,  wonderful people with who I enjoy spending my time with... It is pretty soon to tell this but I think this is probably the best way to ending my US trip. Being happy.

Además, he estado practicando cycla y cocinando. Estando feliz.

(The gardens are full of lavender, so also full of Bees... Hard to take a good photo but finally I got that... Taken with the Telephoto)

I Feel Relatively Neutral About NYC.

"New York City, unique piece of land, cultural exchange, artistic metropolis, foodie town... Manhattan, Broadway, Wall Street, Katz's Delicatessen, Pizza, Bagels, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Taxis, Times Square,  Chrysler Building, Hudson River, Woody Allen, 5th Avenue, Central Park, The Plaza Hotel... More things" That's what people thing NYC has and that's completely true! They also say they Love It! and that's the part i'm not into... My experience in New York City was good, I did love somethings like Pizza and Woody Allen (I Love what he does). I also love a lot of things, so it is not that I don't love things... It is just I Felt Relatively Neutral About NYC (that's also the title of a small   book I'm reading), Why? Because I think San Francisco has good Bagels too, Seattle amazing delicatessen, Chicago tall and beautiful buildings, Taxis are around the world, Medellin (my town) has a River too. Boulder way more cool Parks... I can keep saying more of those examples but I thing my point is clear enough... So, yes, I enjoyed my stayed in NYC, and I enjoyed the people, the museums, the food but I did NOT Loved it.

"New York City, único pedazo de tierra, intercambio cultural, metrópolis artística, cuidad para comer ... Manhattan, Broadway, Wall Street, Katz's Delicatessen, Pizza, Bagels, Empire State Building, Etatua de la Libertad, Taxis, Times Square,  Chrysler Building, Rio Hudson, Woody Allen, 5th Avenue, Central Park, The Plaza Hotel...

(Exactly! ... Exactamente!)

Almost Done with NYC! (Big Article Again!)

Let's picture a crowd, a very tall, very hot crowd (hot of heat, not the other way), there are interesting things around there but it is not the type of place you like or the type of environment you are comfortable in. You are looking forward really bad to get out of there. Then, once you are out, you feel relax, happy and you life looks brighter then ever... Well guys, That's what I'm feeling! (That's why I'm taking so much time to write the Blog)

(Brooklyn Bridge Park... It is not Wall Street but it is a nice shot)

(The New Twin Towers!)
(Las Nuevas Torres Gemelas)

Wall Street and Financial District:

NYC apart of being well known as cultural, artistic and partying city, is also really well known for the stock market, wall street and sadly for the terrorist attack in 9/11... It is a huge part of the city located on the bottom of the island (really close to battery park)... This place has suffer a few bad things in the past 100 years. First, the crisis from the 1929, a lot of jumping suits from the sky, the crisis that US is living right know (which is huge!) and of course the Planes Vs Twin towers catastrophe... I walked a little bit in that part, and I found out that one the Batman Rises scene was shot in the stock exchange of New York. Also, the street are full of security and police just in case another 9/11 comes out.

The High Line Garden:
A few decades ago, there was a train line in West Side of New York City. The High Line Garden, was built in 1 mile long section of the Rail Road... Right know, the Garden has given class, fun and a high prices in the house, apartments and business in the area... I want the one afternoon to walk and try to took some good pictures, something I did good! However, walk there alone is kind of weird, there are couple all around and they looked at me in a funny way... One of the best parks and innovative ideas I ever scene!

(The Rockefeller Building)

Rockefeller Center:
The Rockefeller Center is located right in MidTown. It is a group of a few Buildings (exactly 19!) that were built by the Oil Magnate John D. Rockefeller... Around that place there are a lot of theaters, restaurants, and shopping places. All of them fancy and big! NBC the T.V Network is located right there too... Also, the Rockefeller Building bring the opportunity to go up to "the top of the rock" to see the Manhattan view from a tall place. If you want a picture from NYC this is the place to go! Cus' let's face it, NYC with out the Empire State Building is just another big town.

Rockefeller Center:

(Front: Mushrooms... Back: Cheese)
(Primera: Champiñones... Segunda: Queso)

Best Pizza in Town:
Every one knows that when someone gives you a brochure of a restaurant and it says "Best _____ in Town!" is probably not the best in town, most likely is one of the worst in Town... But I'm not here, writing this as brochure deliver on the street, I'm here as a Foodie and traveler (we eat a lot of Pizza!) saying that the Pizza I had that night is the best pizza I've ever had in my life... The crust was crunchy but not like a cracker, the Tomato sauce was rich and full of flavor but leaving some space for other ingredients, the cheese was really grassy which gives a lot of flavor and comfort... How amazing is a food for someone also depend in the mood and the situation, that might have given some point to that Pizza... Now, Where? Roio's Pizzeria!

Ahora, En Donde? Roio's Pizzeria!

East - Train To - West. (Big Article!)

As you might know, I took a Train from New York to Seattle (actually 2 trains) for about 3 days. I crossed Corn Fields, Lakes, Rivers, Flat lands, Wheat Fields, Mountains and some cities... Here's what happened...

First Leg.

At 3:45 in the afternoon the train departed from New York City... I said Good Bye to Jim, Tomasz and Amelia and I headed to Penn Station. The First train took north at first, touching New Haven and then Albany (that's still in New York State), Beautiful views of the Hudson River! then, It headed west trough Pennsylvania and then Cleveland, Ohio. That part was, sadly, at night so I couldn't see any of the views of the lakes. However, close to Chicago, I saw some nice things!... The Train is called "The Lake Shore" for obvious reasons. It took 19 Hours from NY to Chicago. The Train was comfy and spacious (My legs are pretty tall, so that's great!). Once in Chicago...

(Hudson River) ... (Rio Hudson)

Second Leg.

The Second leg is actually just 4 hours I had in Chicago just before the other train. After Arriving Chicago, I realized that I had 4 hours free, so I put my bag into a 5 dollar locker (Totally worth it!) and I started to "practice" sightseeing around down  town. In order to spend those 4 hours adequately I ask a guy on the street some directions and recomendacion to What to Do. He said go to Millennium Park and give me a few bucks. I DID go to Millennium Park but I DIDN'T give him a few bucks... Chicago is a huge City! at least downtown is big big big! Millennium Park is really nice (Fun Fact: the park was design by Cass company). I had Picnic (Alone), I walked a little bit and I played with the Beam! After that, I came back to the Train Station, ready for the Empire Builder! Once on the Train...

Segunda Etapa.

(Sears Tower, The tallest Building in US nowadays. Who knows until when)

(Millennium)

Third Leg.

I got on the Train. Ready to hit the North! The Empire Builder (name of the train) is an Amtrak service that goes from Chicago to Seattle/Portland. It was the first route to connect the west to the east back in 1929. The train is a total classic and is the busiest long distance train in the US.  First, the train goes north crossing Wisconsin until St. Paul-Minneapolis (the twin Cities), Minnesota. A lot of lakes and rivers in that part! Awesome landscapes... Then, It goes to Fargo, North Dakota (You will remember it because of the movie Fargo by the Cohen Brothers... Great Movie!). After Fargo, the train takes West all the way to Glacier Park. During that part, Corn and Wheat Fields all over the place, although, I have great pictures! Once in Glacier Park, the Rockies started to show up! then It was night... the next day the train was already in Washington State, Mountains, Pines, and some snow too! ... Glad to be back to the Green State and enjoy of the not too hot weather!

Tercera Etapa.

(North Dakota) ... (Dakota del Norte)

(Minnesota)

(Minnesota again) ... (Minnesota Otra vez)

(Montana)

(Washington State... So Green and Different!)
(Estado de Washington... Tan Verde y Diferente!)

(It is hard to explain what is my feeling to these lands... Lets put it like this... Is this Photo any fun?, No?... There you go!)

(At least they are using it for good things!)

Back in Seattle, Happy in Seattle!

24 Hours ago I arrive to Seattle after 3 days in a Train. The Trip was really nice, comfy and fun, way better than a Greyhound Bus (I will get to that later)... I'm staying in Kim's and Cass House (Just like 7 months ago). The house is Beautiful! (just like I left it 7 months ago hahaha). I'm really happy to be here again and enjoy this wonderful city... I also had a fun first day and night with Abby (I met her 7 months ago She is someone I really like) and some of her friends.

(Seattle type of day... Hopefully it will be better tomorrow)
(Clima de Seattle... Con suerte va a estar mejor mañana)

I Have a lot of thing to put on the blog of New York and the Train Ride... I will try to write that as soon as possible! Good stories ahead!

Leaving NY Never Easy :(

I still have more things to tell about New York, but I will get to that later.

This is my last day in NYC. I spent a whole month in this mega city. It made me feel sad and happy. Great memories and great people I met here... "Hell City" was a great Couch Surfing Experience, just like in the web site says. Learn, Teach and Enjoy (or something like that). Thanks a lot to Jim (Host) and Eric (host roommate) I had a lot of fun that month with you both... Tomasz and Amelia! Sad to say good bye, but we will totally see us again in the near future! ... My last night in NYC i spent it watching a good movie, in a great park, with cool people and awesome views. Can't complain about that... Now, I have ahead, 3 days in a train (maybe more for delays) crossing US through the north. I will write something later about that big trip! My train is about to depart so I have to do this short. Exited I am!

Me hizo sentir triste y feliz. Estoy emocionado!

NYC Parks... Battery and Flushing.

(Flushing Meadows and what apparently is a young couple)

Before all these rainy days, I got the opportunity to get out and catch some sun in two great parks. One of them is located  in Lower Manhattan, where the financial district is placed. Battery Park is nice and it has some wide views of the Statue of Liberty and the new World Trade Center. It is a good place to walk but in comparison with Central Park, it is a green dot. The other Park, is way different but great as well, it is called, The Flushing Meadows. You will remember the place (maybe the pictures will tell you more) for U.S Open, Man in Black. The Park is huge, it has fountains, Old buildings, Meadows (ovbiously), Lakes, a Tennis Stadium and a big "planet earth" in the middle of it... I spent an afternoon there. I ran a little bit and had some pasta I brought from home.

(Chilling) ... (Pasando el rato)

(Problems?) ... (Problemas)

(Comic Drawing in Battery Park... Really common thing around that area... I ask for the price and they said to me "Do you want it or not")

(Flushing Meadows)

(Arthur Ashe Stadium... The U.S Open is in September. I almost hit that date, it would have to wait for me)

(Estadio Arthur Ashe...

(Yes, the Cockroach from Men in Black climbed those two towers and then took those things as space ships... Nowadays, those are just old and ugly buildings)

(Tracks and no Train) ... (Carriles y nada de Trenes)
