Through an Adventure: East - Train To

As you might know, I took a Train from New York to Seattle (actually 2 trains) for about 3 days. I crossed Corn Fields, Lakes, Rivers, Flat lands, Wheat Fields, Mountains and some cities... Here's what happened...

Como sabran, yo tomé un Tren desde Nueva York hasta Seattle (realmente 2 trenes) por 3 dias. Crucé Maizales, Lagos, Rios, Planicies, Campos de Trigos, Montañas y alguns ciudades... Esto fue lo que pasó...

First Leg.

At 3:45 in the afternoon the train departed from New York City... I said Good Bye to Jim, Tomasz and Amelia and I headed to Penn Station. The First train took north at first, touching New Haven and then Albany (that's still in New York State), Beautiful views of the Hudson River! then, It headed west trough Pennsylvania and then Cleveland, Ohio. That part was, sadly, at night so I couldn't see any of the views of the lakes. However, close to Chicago, I saw some nice things!... The Train is called "The Lake Shore" for obvious reasons. It took 19 Hours from NY to Chicago. The Train was comfy and spacious (My legs are pretty tall, so that's great!). Once in Chicago...

Priméra Etapa.

A las 3:45 de la tarde el tren salio de New York City... Dije Adiós a Jim, Tomasz y Amelia y me dirigí a la Penn Station... El Tren tomó primero hacia el norte tocando New Haven y Albany (Eso sigue siendo el estado de Nueva York), Bonitas vistas de el rió Hudson! Luego, se dirijió al oeste a través de Pennsylvania y luego Cleveland, Ohio. En esa parte, tristemente, estaba de noche entonces no pude ver nada de los lagos. Sin embargo, cerca a Chicago, vi algunas cosas muy bacanas!... El tren es llamado "La Orilla del Lago" Por obvias razones (Hay un Lago muy grande allá). Tomó 19 horas desde NY a Chicago. El Tren estuvo cómodo y espacioso (mis piernas son bastante largas entonces eso es buenísimo!). Una vez en Chicago...

Second Leg.

The Second leg is actually just 4 hours I had in Chicago just before the other train. After Arriving Chicago, I realized that I had 4 hours free, so I put my bag into a 5 dollar locker (Totally worth it!) and I started to "practice" sightseeing around down town. In order to spend those 4 hours adequately I ask a guy on the street some directions and recomendacion to What to Do. He said go to Millennium Park and give me a few bucks. I DID go to Millennium Park but I DIDN'T give him a few bucks... Chicago is a huge City! at least downtown is big big big! Millennium Park is really nice (Fun Fact: the park was design by Cass company). I had Picnic (Alone), I walked a little bit and I played with the Beam! After that, I came back to the Train Station, ready for the Empire Builder! Once on the Train...

Segunda Etapa.

La segunda etapa es realmente solo 4 horas que tuve en Chicago justo antes de el otro tren. Después de llegar a Chicago, me di cuenta que tenia 4 horas libres, entonces, dejé mi maleta en un locker de 5 Dolares (Valió la Pena!) y empecé a turistear alrededor de centro. Con el fin de utilizar esas horas adecuadamente le pregunte a alguien en la calle algunas direcciones y recomendaciones de Que Hacer. El me dijo, vaya a Millennium Park y deme unos cuantos dolares. SI fui a Millennium Park pero NO le di unos cuantos dolares.... Chicago es una gran Ciudad! al menos, el centro es grande grande grande! Millennium Park es brutal (Dato curioso: El parque fue diseñado por la empresa de Cass). Hice un Picnic, caminé un poco y jugué con el Vidrio! Después de eso, me devolví a la Estación de Trenes, listo para el Empire Builder (El Constructor de Imperios! Una vez en el Tren...

(Millennium)

Third Leg.

I got on the Train. Ready to hit the North! The Empire Builder (name of the train) is an Amtrak service that goes from Chicago to Seattle/Portland. It was the first route to connect the west to the east back in 1929. The train is a total classic and is the busiest long distance train in the US. First, the train goes north crossing Wisconsin until St. Paul-Minneapolis (the twin Cities), Minnesota. A lot of lakes and rivers in that part! Awesome landscapes... Then, It goes to Fargo, North Dakota (You will remember it because of the movie Fargo by the Cohen Brothers... Great Movie!). After Fargo, the train takes West all the way to Glacier Park. During that part, Corn and Wheat Fields all over the place, although, I have great pictures! Once in Glacier Park, the Rockies started to show up! then It was night... the next day the train was already in Washington State, Mountains, Pines, and some snow too! ... Glad to be back to the Green State and enjoy of the not too hot weather!

Tercera Etapa.

Me monté al tren. Listo para el Norte! El Empire Builder (el nombre del tren) es un servicio de Amtrak que va desde Chicago hasta Seattle/Portland. Fue la primera ruta que conectó el oeste y el este en 1929. El tren es un clásico total y el tren mas concurrido de larga distancia en USA. Primero, el tren va hacia el norte cruzando Wisconsin hasta St. Paul - Minneapolis (Ciudades gemelas), Minnesota. Muchos Lagos y Ríos en esa parte! Increíbles paisajes... Luego, va hacia Fargo, Dakota del Norte (Lo recordaran por la película Fargo de los Hermanos Cohen... Buena Película!). Después de Fargo, El tren toma el Oeste hasta Glacier Park. Durante esa parte, Cultivos de Trigo y Maíz por todos lados, sin embargo, tengo buenas fotografías! Una vez en Glacier Park, las rocosas empezaron a aparecer! Luego llego la noche... El día siguiente el tren ya estaba en el Estado de Washington, Montañas, Pinos y un poco de Nieve!... Me alegra mucho haber vuelto al Estado Verde y disfrutar de un clima no tan caliente!
