Delay and Problems (no big deal).

Hello everyone! First of all, i have to explain that Blogger and Google have been in problems with the blog system, that is why I haven't put new entries and photos these last days, it is impossible. However, I'm going to write what is going on up here in Canada this last weekend.  

Hola a todos! Primero que todo, tengo que explicar que Blogger y Google han tenido problemas con el sistema del blog, por eso es que no he podido poner nuevas entradas y fotos en los últimos días, es imposible. Sin embargo voy a escribir que es lo que ha pasado aquí arriba en Canadá el ultimo fin de semana.

Last Friday, i went to a Hockey Game with Jeremy and Maelle, they are a french couple who actually live here in Vancouver... We had a great time, also the Hockey is compelling me a lot so it was very interesting for me. Then, on Saturday I rested all day, i stayed at home; sleeping, reading, and watching some videos. On Sunday my plan was going to Victoria (City of the Vancouver Island located on thewest side of Vancouver city) with some friends of the school but in this huge metropolitan city called Vancouver, there are no busses or trains early in the morning so... I couldn't go. As well as Saturday i stayed at home which is important too. You have to rest once in a while.

El Viernes pasado, fui al juego de Hockey con Jeremy y Maelle, una pareja de franceses que vive actualmente en Vancouver... La pasamos muy bacano, además el Hockey me tiene enganchado bastante entonces fue bastante interesante para mi. El Sábado, descanse todo el día, me quede en la casa; leyendo, durmiendo y viendo algunos vídeos. El Domingo el plan era ir a Victoria (una ciudad que hace parte de la isla de Vancouver, una gran isla al oeste de Vancouver city) con algunos amigos de la escuela pero, es esta enorme ciudad llamada Vancouver, no hay buses ni metro en las horas de la mañana así que... no pude ir. Así como pasé el Sábado pasé el domingo, descansando en casa. Lo cual es importante, hay que descansar cada tanto.

Many People say that here in Vancouver there is only 60 days of sun during the year, They say also that there is no Summer as usual, They say that it is only the last week of July (hahaha). It is very impressing and depressing as well to look at weather forecast and see this... "it will be raining these 2 next weeks"... However, there is a break sometimes in the afternoon when the sun shines! so... you have to go out and catch it.  Last Thursday and Saturday the sun finally was shining so I took a walk with Jérôme (a friend from the School, he is from Switzerland) to the Olympic Village, The Science World and Soccer Stadium, then we went to a bar and we watched the Canucks Game (major Hockey Team). We had a nice afternoon.

Muchas personas dicen que aquí en Vancouver solo hay sol 60 días al año, dicen también que no hay verano como lo conocemos, dicen que es solo la ultima semana de julio (hahaha). Es impresionante y deprimente ver el Canal del Clima y observar esto... "va a llover las próximas dos semanas"... Sin embargo, algunas veces hay un despeje en el cielo y el sol brilla un poco! entonces... hay que salir y pasar el rato. El jueves pasado y el sábado pasado el sol estaba brillando finalmente, entonces fui a caminar con Jérôme (un amigo de la escuela, el es Suiza) a la Villa Olimpica, El mundo de la Ciencia y el Estadio de Fútbol. Luego, fuimos a un bar a ver el partido de los Canucks (el equipo de primera division de Hockey). La pasamos bastante bien.

Some Things... Some Facts.

It has been almost one month since I left my home, i'm more than 10.000 km from my homeland but the thing is... I'm having a really really good time, I have known very nice people from basically every continent; people from Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Perú, Brazil, Australia... and many more. I have visited a lot of awesome places, I'm happy and proud of my education and my adventurous spirit... I'm sure they are going to take me far.

Also, looking at the Blog statistics... i have received more than 500 views, people from Russia are looking at my blog (i don't know who they are!), Internet Explorer is dead (just the 5% look at my blog through Internet Explorer), More then a half views are from Colombia (thanks everyone!), Finally Window still being the King (the 75% look at my blog through Windows operative system).

Ha sido ya casi un mes desde que deje mi casa, estoy a mas de 10.000 km de mi tierra pero el cuento es que... la estoy pasando muy bien, he conocido personas muy bacanas de básicamente cada continente; de Italia, Suiza, Francia, Japón, Corea, México, Perú, Brasil, Australia... y muchas mas nacionalidades. He visitado increíbles lugares, Estoy feliz y orgulloso de mi educción y de mi espíritu... Estoy seguro que me llevaran bastante lejos.

Además, viendo las estadísticas de mi Blog... he recibido mas de 500 visitas, personas de Rusia están viendo mí blog (no se quienes serán), Internet Explorer esta muerto (solo el 5% ve mi blog a través de Internet Explorer), mas de la mitad de las visitas son de Colombia (gracias a todos!), Finalmente Windows sigue siendo el Rey (el 75% mira mi blog a través de el sistema operativo de Windows).

Yesterday in the afternoon i bought a pair of winter boots and when i was going home, right on the street I met with Jérôme, Aline and Manuela (from Switzerland). They invited me to the Stanley Park. Then we all  went together to Yaletown, a downtown area full of bars and restaurants where also there is a "Light Night" (Amazing colorful buildings and artistic examples). Once there... with other people from St. Giles, We went to eat something and have some beer (Being a minor here you can do that... if you are lucky!)

Ayer en la tarde fui comprar unas botas para invierno y cuando estaba yendo a la casa, en la calle, me encontre con Jérôme, Aline y Manuela (Suizos). Ellos me invitaron a Stanley Park. Luego con otra amiga, Manuela; fuimos a Yeletown, una parte del centro llena de restaurantes y bares donde además hay una "noche de luces". Une vez allá, con otras personas de St. Giles, fuimos a comer algo y a tomar cerveza (siendo un menor aquí es posible hacer eso... Si uno tiene suerte)

The next day, with some of the people from the Saturday night we went to the Lynn Park, It was very nice we spent a really good time up there in the mountain... Very good people everyone. Thanks!

El día siguiente, con algunas personas de la noche anterior, fuimos a Lynn Park, estuvo muy bacano, la pasamos muy bien en la montaña... Gente muy querida. Gracias!

Lazer Tag ))------

Today I went to play Lazer Tag in Richmond (a city near Vancouver) with some people of St. Giles language school. It was, like the photo below says... Extreme!. It's was really fun, i enjoyed it a lot. Lazer Tag is like paintball, but it doesn't hurt at all. You just have a vest with lasers sensors in your chest, back and shoulders and a laser gun, then you only have to shoot.

Hoy fui a jugar Lazer Tag en Richmond (un ciudad cerca a Vancouver) con algunas personas de el instituto de St. Giles. Fue, como la foto dice... Extremo!. Estuvo muy divertido, disfrute mucho. Lazer Tag es como paintball, pero no duele nada. Uno solo tiene un chaleco con sensores en la espalda, pecho y hombros y una pistola láser, de resto es solo disparar.

Lynn Park... Hiking near Vancouver.

Last Sunday (it was actually a sunny day)... I went to Lynn Park and the low part of Mt. Seymour, i walk through pines, lakes, mountains, rivers and a "deer" for 5 hours, the hiking was really good and breath taking, i had needed that a long long time. The park is amazing, it has maps and shelters everywhere. Right now the weather isn't as good as last week so there's nothing to do outside, i'll have to look for indoor sightseeing  places or go to a pub at night... oh wait... I can't, i'm a minor in British Columbia.  Tomorrow's plan is go to play Laser Tag (Barney Stimson style, if you know what i'm talking about) with some friends of the English Institute.

El Sábado pasado, fui a Lynn Park y a la parte baja de el Monte Seymour, camine atravez de pinos, lagos, montañas, ríos y un "venado" durante 5 horas, la caminata estuvo muy bacana y quita alientos, necesitaba eso durante mucho tiempo. El parque es espectacular, tiene mapas y refugios por todos lados. Ahora mismo el clima no esta tan bueno como la semana anterior entonces no hay mucho que hacer afuera, voy a tener que buscar alguna actividad de interiores o ir a algún bar en la noche... aaa, lo olvidaba, aquí soy menor de edad.  El plan de mañana es ir a jugar Guerra de Lásers o Laser Tag (estilo Barney Stimson, si es que saben de que estoy hablando) con algunos amigos del Instituto de Ingles.

In the lower part of  Mt. Seymour, very close to the main river, i was walking very relaxed when suddenly in the left part of the road i saw a small Deer lying on the ground... It was a beautiful moment, i enjoy it a lot... I  only took a few pictures.

En la parte baja del Monte Symour, cerca a el rió principal, estaba caminado relajado cuando repente en el lado izquierdo del camino vi un pequeño Venado recostado sobre el suelo... Fue un momento muy bacano, lo disfruté mucho... Solo pude tomar unas cuantas fotos.

UBC... and nice Company.

On Thursday, i went to the UBC (University Of British Columbia) with Murielle and Isaline, We went down to the beach to catch the sunset and then went to take a look at the huge campus UBC has. Everything was great i really enjoyed spending that afternoon with them... Thanks for that!

El martes, Fui a a la UBC (Universaidad de British Columbia) con Muriel e Isaline. Fuimos ala playa para ver el atardecer y luego fuimos a darle un vistaso a el gran campus que tiene la UBC. Todo fue muy bacano, disfrute mucho la tarde con ellas... Gracias!

ChinaTown.

Last Saturday, I went to Chinatown... It is a a really nice "town", it is just about 5 min walk from downtown. Everything changes; people, language, the feeling and even the weather (just kidding). Once there i decided to go to eat something Chinese. I ordered a rice cake, and a couple of Chinese donuts... Delicious! Then i went to the Chinese garden park.

Hoy fui a China Town... Es un "pueblo" muy bacano, esta a solo 5 minutos desde el centro. Todo cambia, la gente, la lengua, hasta el clima y las sensaciones. Una vez allá, decidí ir a comer algo chino y ordene una torta de arroz y unas cuantas donas chinas... Delicioso todo. Luego fui a el parque-jardín Chino.

Hockey Game.

Last night i went to the Hockey Game with the Vancouver CouchSurfers group, it was amazing! Pure adrenaline, really fast and furious, very exiting! The game was Giants (locals) Vs. Blazers (visitors) playing for the Memorial Cup, so it was kind of huge.  I really love Hockey, an amazing sport and an enormous Canadian tradition as well. i hope i can find another game during my stay in Canada... By the way... Giants won the Cup.

La noche anterior fui al partido de Hockey con el grupo de CouchSurfers de Vancouver, estuvo brutal! Pura adrenalina, realmente "rápido y furioso", muy muy exitante! El juego fue Giants (locales) Vs. Blazers (visitantes) jugando por la Memorial Cup, entonces era un gran evento. Realmente me gusto el Hockey, un maravilloso deporte y una gran tradición Canadiense. Espero encontrar otro juego durante mi estadía en Canadá... a por cierto... Los Giants ganaron la Copa.

Because of the adrenalin, Hockey players usually fight with each other, that's why is "legal", but if you cause the fight... you have to go to "jail" for 2 Min.

A causa de la adrenalina, los jugadores de Hockey  pelan unos contra otros, por eso es "legal", pero si uno causa la pelea... tiene que ir a la "cárcel" por 2 Min.

"Summer Time".

It feels like summer up here, no clouds in the sky, the temperature is going up and the whole city is on the streets waking and hanging out. It's really cool! and finally i saw the Vancouver snow cap mountains... A beautiful landscape!

Se siente como si estuviéramos en verano aquí arriba, no hay nubes en el cielo, la temperatura esta aumentando y toda la ciudad esta en las calles caminando y pasando el rato. Es muy bacano! y finalmente pude ver las montañas nevadas de Vancouver... Lindo paisaje!

A bit of Downtown.

Because of the Sunny "season" during the winter, i decided to go to the Seawall and take a few pictures of downtown, then, going to the Skyline station (Metro), i saw a strange structure, when i looked at it, i took my Vancouver Lonely Planet book and what i found was the 2010 Winter Olympic Torch. it was really cool!

A causa de la "temporada" de sol en Invierno, decidí ir al Malecón en el centro de Vancouver y tomar unas cuantas fotos del centro, luego, yendo a la estacion del Skytrain (Metro), vi una extraña estructura, cuando la vi, tome mi libro de Lonely Planet Vancouver y lo que encontré fue la antorcha de los Juegos Olimpicos de invierno del 2010. Fue muy emocionante!

I saw the Sun! Today was a beautiful day, no clouds in the sky, the sun shining... it was more cold compare when is raining but who doesn't want vitamin D?. So i decided to go to downtown and take a walk there, and i found a really really strange and weird neighborhood. Vancouver calls it "Gayborhood"... why? cus' in West End ( a neighborhood close to downtown) there is a huge community of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, etc; since Canada approved the same-sex marriage 4 years ago. It is one of the biggest gay communities in the world.

Pude ver el Sol! Hoy fue un bonito día, sin nubes en el cielo y el sol brillando... es mas frió que cuando llueve pero, quien no quiere un poco de vitamina D? Entonces decidí ir a caminar al centro y encontré un barrio realmente extraño y raro. Vancouver lo llama, "Gayborhood  (barriogay)... porque? porque en West End ( un barrio cerca del centro) hay una gran comunidad de gay lesbianas, transexuales, bisexuales, etc; desde que canda aprobó el matrimonia del mismo sexo hace 4 años. Es una de las comunidades gay mas grandes del mundo.
